Beth + Brian | San Diego | Lifestyle Session

With the due date quickly approaching, we had to pick a date… rain or shine.

It had been pouring rain the day before, and a forecast of continued rain for the next few days.  A possibility of rescheduling our shoot? Oh…. it could not have been more perfect, the rain god was on our side or perhaps, we had a bit of luck from the soon to be mom and dad.

The sun was out, it was dry, and she bought new shoes!  It was the perfect day for a shoot.

Now if we could only get the wind to cooperate…

To capture this.

Beth, it was so good to see you again and this time, with your pregnancy glow. I had such a wonderful time shooting both of you.

I hope your luck with the weather brought some luck to our Padres that day. =)

Joy + Caesar : San Diego : A Starfish Wedding

It was one of those weddings we dream of as little girls. To the tiniest details – the dress, the cake, and the theme. Light colored shells peeking out of brown sugar sand sprinkled around centerpieces. Silver starfish hair ornaments and jewelry. Personalized seashells that led their guests to their seats. Sparkling blue lights and table covers. I felt like I was Ariel, swimming under the sea.

Overlooking the San Diego skyline, the reception was held at the Soledad Club. It was an intimate and beautiful venue, and as mentioned in her thank you speech, they chose to be here with their closest family and friends. And it was just that. Intimate. Close. Perfect.

After some time of mingling with her guests during cocktail hour, I found Joy and asked her how she was doing. Her exact words were “I feel like a princess.” Ah… smiles. It was exactly what I wanted to hear. It can be so easy to forget to take that step back and enjoy the moment, it can be a dream that happens so quickly and we wake up realizing it’s already over. She took it in, her big day, she was with the most important people in her life. This – this made me smile.

They capped the evening with thank you’s and a speech that brought tears.. tears with an “s” to my eyes. I usually don’t cry until after I sit down and go through the images, but this time, while the camera was held to my eye and I was looking at her, looking at him… and I listened to his speech. He hesitated at first as Joy turned to him with the mic, but began his speech with his thank you’s … thankful for this day, thankful to have found Joy. He glanced at their guests, then to the ground and said, he did have one wish. One wish that could have made this day even more special than it already was. His one wish, that his mom could have been there, for his mom to have met the most beautiful woman he was marrying today…

But we all know that somehow she was a part this magical day. That she did meet his beautiful bride. And that she had blessed them with her love, her happiness, and with Joy. His wish, I am sure, came true that magical day.

Now, let’s bow our heads and dance.

Thank you Orn, for the beautiful images of the church and of the wedding. Thank you for being my right hand woman.

Congratulations many many times Joy and Caesar, I so much enjoyed working with you, photographing you and getting to know you and your family and friends. Lots, and lots of LOVE!

Happy 80th Grandpa Noe!

Dear Grandpa Noe,

First I would like to say: Happy happy happy 80th birthday. This is such a wonderful mark in your life. You and Tessie both raised an amazing family of 18. Four sons, four daughters and 8 very beautiful grandkids. You must be so proud and I feel very lucky to have met your family and to be a part of your special moment. Here is a look at my favorite images:

What happens when you ask the boys to give their moms big hugs…

Or when you ask the girls to give kisses in front of the camera.

Grandpa Noe, your family was so much fun and so full of love, hugs, and kisses.

And they are just absolutely full of cuteness. I really do want to pinch her dimpled cheeks!

I hope you have a beautiful 80th birthday weekend with your family and friends. I wish you many more years of happiness and love. =)

Janet, thank you for the opportunity and once again, Michelle, thank you for the referral. Love you girls!

Lucena & Giampaoli Family : San Diego : Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad

I am completely and truly blessed, thankful, and so very lucky…

I have the opportunity to meet such amazing families, couples and kids. Almost immediately, I feel like I am a part of your family.

I am so very thankful to receive the love and referrals that have been coming in each month. Michelle, thank you. Maribelle, your family, your father, your mother – oh my gosh, I just want to hug all of you. I am so lucky to have met all of you.

Happy 45th Aniversary Maxie and Ted Lucena!  And happy happy 70th birthday Mom.

Hmmm…. I am noticing a pattern here. Teddy has his hands in his pocket while Mirabelle and Mary were more than happy lean in and just give big hugs!!!!!

And Sam here is doing the same thing.

I get to ask Dad to give Mom a few birthday kisses in front of their grown children and hear the awwws around me. We all get to witness his Rico Suave side.

When I get home, I have to decide which of the 5 images I am keeping. They are exactly the same except for the expressions on the children’s faces.

Mirabelle, just so you know, I am a fan of your family. You all are so cute, thanks for being silly with me 🙂

Linda + Hiep : Engagement Session : Peohe’s

They met over 6 years ago, he saw her and knew he had to swoon her with his charm, his patience, and with food. Yup, he brought her lunch almost everyday. My kinda guy. I am definitely impressed. She was not. Not just yet.

… Til one day, he disappeared. He just stopped showing up. And the lunch treats… no more. This made her realize what she was missing, how much his friendship meant to her, how much she really did care for him, plus who was gonna feed her?

But it was all part of his plan…

A year after their first encounter, they had their official date at Peohe’s. And today, I was lucky enough to be part of their lunch date.

Okay, now kiss… or you can skip?? I was sitting quite a bit away giving them instructions while I was photographing them. I thought what a perfect moment for them to lean in and kiss. I yelled out, “Kiss!” but instead I got the 2 of them to skip. Now how else would I have captured this?

Did I mention how much fun they were to shoot, Hiep would not stop giggling. Sorry Hiep, I hope I did not take your man card away.

He’s blowing her kisses.

Mmmmm.. YUM! Thanks for feeding me.

He is trying to convince me that this is his natural smile. ?????

I enjoyed you two. Thank you.
Skip. Kiss. Love.

Serena + Josh : Engagement Session : Downtown San Diego : Coronado

We were to meet at 3:30pm on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Coronado, where it views the Coronado Bridge and Downtown San Diego Skyline. It was the perfect day to photograph the girl with a million dollar smile and the charming boy from Virginia.

At 10:06am, I receive an email from Serena: We are getting ready…for some reason I’m kinda nervous about taking pics.

First thought, its 10:06 am. My eyelids are still stuck to my contacts, what is she doing up so early?

Second thought, she’s a natural beauty. She doesn’t need to get ready this early.  This girl is fierce, hands on hip fierce.

I was right, she is a natural. They both are. They were comfortable, relaxed and quite the cutest couple. I am glad to know the GEICO telephone made its way back to Josh. Congrats to the both of you and I am very, very happy for the 2 of you.

Here is a little peek at your session.

Courtesy of the Coronado Sandman, who is known for his work of Sand Art all over Coronado. A very sweet man.

I just want to say: Stop it. Stop it you two. You’re so cute.
